Personalized Parkinson Project De Novo
The Personalized Parkinson Project (PPP) De Novo is a prospective, longitudinal, single-center cohort study, including 103 participants with Parkinson’s disease. All participants are 18 years or older, have a disease duration of two years or less, and have never been treated before with any symptomatic dopaminergic drug treatment for Parkinson’s disease.
Study design
Participants are followed for two years, with three assessments at the study center: a baseline, after one year and after two years. After the third visit, participants are followed-up with a yearly questionnaire up to five years. Outcomes include a clinical assessment (including motor and neuro-psychological tests), collection of biospecimens (whole blood), and ECG recordings (both 12-lead and Holter). After each assessment, participants fill in several questionnaires at home, including questions on quality of life and life style. Additionally, collection of physiological and environmental data in daily life over two years will be enabled through the Verily Study Watch.
